Special 23 April festival for children of earthquake victims

The 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day, which was gifted to children by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic, was celebrated with activities organised by Doğuş University in Derince neighbourhood of Antakya district. In the event organised with the contributions of Doğuş University and Disaster Management and Humanitarian Aid Club, a fun dance show, clown show and various activities were performed with the children. On this special day, Doğuş University gave earthquake-stricken children in the city pleasant moments that they will never forget.

Stating that they are here for the children of earthquake victims, Doğuş University Faculty Member Nazmiye Arduç said, ‘The children are having fun. We are having a lot of fun here too. We are here on behalf of Istanbul Dogus University disaster management and humanitarian aid club. We've come to Hatay to celebrate 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day. We are celebrating our 23 April festival with all our enthusiasm and excitement together with the earthquake victims and their children living in the tent city in Hatay.’

‘I think the psychological and social support we will provide here is really very meaningful’

Stating that they came to Hatay to celebrate with a team of 18 people, Faculty Member Nazmiye Arduç said, ‘I think the psychological and social support we will provide here is really very meaningful. Our primary goal will be to enable children to overcome these traumatic processes with the least damage in a healthy way and to connect to life with hope while adapting to their current lives.’
