Awareness Event Held for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25 November

Doğuş University organized a meaningful awareness event for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25 November. The event, coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aslı TELSEREN ÖMEROĞLU, brought together experts who addressed different dimensions of violence against women. The event aimed to raise social awareness among students by highlighting dating violence, economic violence, and the importance of a rights-based approach.

At the program, Perihan MEŞELİ (Mor Çatı Women's Shelter Foundation), in her presentation titled "Dating Violence," addressed forms of violence that can emerge in dating relationships, warning signs, and the importance of establishing healthy relationships. Funda EKİN (Mor Çatı Women's Shelter Foundation), in her speech titled "Alimony Debates and Economic Violence," explained the social dimension of alimony rights, the effects of economic dependency on women, and the invisible aspects of economic violence. Zeynep KAYACAN and Yaren ÇİNGÖZ (Konuşmamız Gerek Association), in their talk titled "We Need to Talk About Period Violence," delivered important awareness messages regarding period poverty, discrimination created by period taboos, and types of violence experienced during menstruation. The event, held with the contributions of the experts, provided a strong perspective for our students to understand the multifaceted nature of violence.
