A Great Achievement by Research. Assist. A.Haluk Manav, Department of Visual Communication Design
The short feature documentary film of Research Assistant A. Haluk Manav from the Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Visual Communication Design, titled ‘Reflections of Mythology in the Bosphorus’ won 7 awards, 6 official selections and 1 honourable mention in the journey of international film festivals that started in March 2024.
Awards for the short documentary film about the Kyaneai Rocks, which are thought to be mentioned in the mythological legend of the Golden Fleece and the Argo Sailors and have been known by different names since antiquity, and the historical monument on the European Kyaneai; Best Documentary Short Film and Best Short Film Director from ‘1st Monthly Film Festival’ (Serbia), Best International Short Film, Best Director and Best Poster from ‘2 11 17 International Film Festival’ (India), Best Cinematography from ‘Alternative Film Festival’ (Canada) and Best Editing from ‘Heart of Europe International Monthly Film Festival’ (Slovakia).
The festivals where the film has taken part as an official selection are as follows: Paradise Film Festival (Hungary), Eastern Europe Film Festival (Romania), Stockholm City Film Festival (Sweden), Best International Film Festival (Romania), The Monthly Film Festival (UK), International Istanbul Short Film & The Writer's Journey Festival (Turkey).
The film ‘Reflections of Mythology in the Bosphorus’ won an honourable mention at the ‘Future of Film Awards’ (Macedonia) in the documentary film category.
With Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Yavuz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cengiz Zabcı, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman Emir and Assoc. Gör. Sezai Gülşen as history advisors and speakers, the film continues to participate in festivals
