The results of the competition for Balavca Creek and its surroundings were announced: Here are the award-winning projects
The winners of ‘Balavca Creek as a Multi-Layered Natural and Cultural Life Corridor and its Near Surroundings Idea Project Competition’ organised by Milas Municipality was concluded. Of the 26 projects participating in the competition, 8 were deemed worthy of an award.
The projects that were deemed worthy of awards in the ‘Balavca Creek as a Multi-Layered Natural and Cultural Life Corridor and its Close Neighbourhood Idea Project Competition’ were announced. Of the 26 projects participating in the competition, 8 were deemed worthy of an award. Projects that will carry the city to the future by taking into account the natural qualities of Balavca Creek, climate adaptation, water management and the multi-layered cultural landscape of Milas were exhibited and shared with the public. Head of the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Art and Design, Doğuş University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Batu Kepekcioğlu, Head of the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Art and Design, Doğuş University, and his team were also ranked and awarded an honourable mention.
In the final announcement published on the website of the competition, the following statements were made:
‘The ideas emerging as a result of the competition will contribute to improving the quality of life of Milas residents, supporting social life, providing new public spaces that will allow Balavca to integrate with the city, supporting Milas' initiatives on the road to UNESCO World Heritage, and developing resilience against disasters that Milas may face.’
